DeBakey Graduate Survey

Dean Shargey would like to collect information about DeBakey graduates to help document and share the HSHP success story.

If you graduated from DeBakey HSHP or know someone who has, please fill out the form at https://forms.gle/Zk9S6fXmhM2kv7gz7. This data will demonstrate the educational and employment impact this high-performing program has had across the city, the state, the nation, and the world. By taking a moment of your time to complete the survey, you will join us in celebrating the health professions legacy of our beloved high school. NOTE:  All responses will remain CONFIDENTIAL. We do not share or sell contacts or information. We will report group data ONLY from this survey.

Feel free to forward the survey link to other HSHP/DHSHP colleagues, friends, or relatives. We would love 100% graduate participation. Your story is important, as it helps weave together the fabric of our diverse health professions community. Thank you for being a part of HP heritage.

If you have questions, contact Dean Shargey at bshargey@houstonisd.org or (713) 741-2410.

Running Club at the Rodeo Run

Congratulations to all the Running Club members who came to participate in this year's HLSR Rodeo Run! The 5K/10K is the latest in a series of races that the team has participated in over the school year. Club President, Hannah Rosanes (3rd from the left), finished 3rd in her Age Group with a 10K time of 55 minutes and 50 seconds! Even a few of the parents have decided to join in the Running Club's activities.

Red Cross Club Blood Drive - Feb 27

Red Cross Club will host a blood drive benefitting the MD Anderson Cancer Center. Students 17 years old and older, and weighing 110 pounds or more may participate. We also encourage parents to donate as well. If you participate, please drink lots of water this weekend and also eat. Bring your ID to school with you because you will need to show it when you enter the blood donation area, Room 148.

Feminine hygiene product donations needed

Donations for feminine hygiene products (pads, tampons) that will be made available in school restrooms are being accepted and can be dropped off at the Front Office.

NHS and GSA Clothing Drive

NHS has partnered with DeBakey's GSA Club to host a clothing drive for Tony's Place which is a drop-in center focusing on LGBTQ+ youth.

Any articles of clothing are accepted but some of the most needed items include casual pants, tennis shoes, and men's underwear. You can donate any clothing items in good condition, but any donations of undergarments must be new.

In order to receive one service project, NHS members must donate four articles of clothing. The limit is six service projects for seniors and three service projects for juniors!

Donations must be delivered to the Orchestra room in Mr. Stewart's room. After donating, NHS members must fill out the NHS sign-in sheet or they will not earn your service projects.

The clothing drive began on Tuesday, February 21st, and ends on Monday, March 6th.
