• All students will need to complete the Course Planner in SCHOOLINKS by April 5. The counselors will be sending out information about course selection on April 5.  For now, please log into SCHOOLINKS and start completing your course planner. Please note that HISD has not accurately updated DeBakey's courses in SCHOOLINKS.
• It is time for new and returning clubs to begin the approval process. Current clubs should begin to plan for a new administration by holding elections. Those with a new and unique club idea should review the procedures before submitting their proposal. The deadline to submit the form is May 3rd.

• The Laptop Audit continues this Friday, April 5th. Students will have a laptop check during their assigned homeroom.
• Cycle 5 Progress reports will be distributed this Friday, April 5th.
• The school will be open to students for Saturday tutorials. Make sure to check in with your teachers to see if they will be available this Saturday for tutorials.

DeBakey will be hosting new families on Saturday, Apr 06 during the annual new student information session and registration. From 8AM-12PM, the Uniform Store will be open in-person in the flex lab. To make this experience a success, we need student and adult volunteers to help  with sales and answer questions. Please volunteer here:

Donations are needed for Poetry Café. Poetry Cafe’ is an event where students, and staff can showcase their talent reciting poetry, singing a song, or playing an instrument.

The Spring Edition will be held on Friday, April19th, from 4:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. at the Black Box Theater, on the 5th Floor.

Please click here to sign up to donate. If you donate money, please send it via Zelle to president@debakeypto.organd please include “Poetry Cafe” in the comment section. If you donate an item please deliver it to the front office by Tuesday, April 16, 2024 and label the item for Poetry Cafe’.

Donations are needed to help keep our kids with snacks, drinks and other treats for the upcoming HOSA State Competition this April 3-5. If you are able, please consider donating refreshments for the participants. For those parents who recently paid for the HOSA competition but were refunded, this is a great way to put those returned funds to good use!

The group will host a picnic on the beach w/ hot dogs & S'mores night.

Please drop off items at the front desk labeled "HOSA". We will secure these items for the event.

If your child participated in any of the school's athletics-related activities this year or played for their zoned high school, and they would like to attend the annual Athletics Banquet, please have them sign up to RSVP here.

The banquet will be held at the school the evening of May 22.

Thank you Mr. Stewart for your hard work and for coordinating the DeBakey orchestra field trip to watch the Houston Symphony performance. The students had an amazing time, and it was a great learning opportunity. 

Congratulations to the DeBakey Varsity Quiz Bowl Team A (Runner-Up) and Team B (Semi-finalists) at the Village School Invitational Quiz Bowl tournament! Thank you Mr. Stigant for your patience and for supporting the quiz bowl teams.

DeBakey Running Club is hosting a fundraiser through Apr 12 each school day from 3:30PM-4PM selling ice cream on the 1st floor. Come out to support and enjoy a refreshing treat!

All sessions are 1-2PM and 1:1 with student tutors
